Why I love squash
Squash is the sport I love most. It is played on a small indoor court by two players, who take turns hitting a little rubber ball against the front wall. The ball barely bounces, so every rally demands fast feet, sharp reflexes, and clever thinking. A single game can feel like a chess match played at a sprint.
I have been hooked since the first time I picked up a racquet. Forty five minutes on court leaves me exhausted, clear headed, and genuinely happy. Squash is often ranked among the healthiest sports in the world, and it is easy to see why: it builds endurance, strength, and concentration all at once.
Five reasons to try squash
- It is a brilliant full body workout in under an hour.
- Courts are indoors, so you can play all year round, whatever the weather.
- The basic rules are simple enough to learn in a single session.
- You only need one partner, one ball, and two racquets.
- Every opponent plays differently, so no two matches ever feel the same.
